First Tee Time: 7:44 AM; Each subsequent group will go out as soon as the previous group is out of bombing range. This year, due to COVIDiots, we will be limiting total participation to only 20 players, so space is extremely limited. Priority will be given to founders’ teams and previous players on a first come, first served basis.

Check in by: 7:00 AM

Entry Fee: Entry Fee is $48. We will not be gathering at the clubhouse after the round as a safety precaution, so only green fees this year, with the top team getting their name engraved on the belt. All entry fees and optional contents must be paid by Venmo or Paypal.

Drinks are on your own because we can’t afford how thirsty you all are.

There is also an optional Par 3 contest. Entry is $10/player.

Join us for the 2021 Black Friday Invitational Golf Outing!  Once again we are returning to the Mililani Golf Club with a 4-person team scramble format.  $48 entry includes green fees and shared cart.  The winning team will get their names engraved into the Black Friday Invitational Perpetual Trophy: The Founder's Belt, sponsored by the Law Office of Levi K. Hookano, LLC.

The Course is running double tee times and club play on this day, so we should be on time and play a fairly brisk round.  The "Scramble" format will help, and there will be a 2-putt maximum.  All 5 of our groups will be heading out sequentially on either the front or back 9, as instructed on the day of the tourney.

Proper golf attire is required.
Collared shirts for men are required.
No tee shirts or tank tops allowed on course.
Shorts have to be bermuda length. No swim wear allowed.
Covered footwear required. No open-toed shoes allowed.
Tennis shoes allowed.
Denim jeans allowed.

INAPPROPRIATE ATTIRE:
Tank tops not allowed.
T-shirts not allowed.
Cut-off shorts not allowed.

GOLF SPIKE RULE:
Metal spikes are not allowed.
Tennis shoes allowed.

History of the BFI

In 2012, myself, Reid Matsushima, Donavan Kealoha, and Jarrett Keohokalole decided to hit the links at Mamala Bay on Black Friday.  The course was empty and we had a relaxing round.  During the round, it was commented that we should do this every year and call it the Black Friday Invitational; and thus a tradition was born.  The next year in 2013 we had a field of 20 golfers at Hawaii Kai Golf Course, with some entertaining markings being left behind on the tee boxes to indicate the direction of the pin.  In 2014 we took to Coral Creek and almost doubled the field and quadrupled the fun.  Unfortunately, the 2015 tournament was called on the count of rain when Olomana Golf Club ended up under a foot of water and the course was closed.  We returned in 2016 at the Army's Leilehua Golf Course with a grumpy pro shop and pigs running across the fairways.  We took a little bit of rain that year but it didn't dampen our spirits or the fun of the day.  Then, in 2017 at the Mililani Golf Club, the team of Dan and Joey Maekawa, Shay Hirota, and Aron Okamoto were the first team to ever win the BFI Founders' Belt, with a team score of 68 as a 4-person scramble.  In 2018 the team of Clint Lacaden, Alex Lee, Sean Fujimoto, and Troy Kim took home the Belt with a team score of 63! In 2019, the team of Jarrett Keohokalole, James Frizzell, Reid Tsumoto and Quy Du scored top honors with 64, just short of tying the record!

Registrations will be processed in the order received with first priority going to Founders’ teams. The BFI is limited to 20 players.
